GIBSON CITY, Ill. - GIBSON CITY -- A local family is cleaning up and mourning after a house fire killed two of their dogs and three of their cats. It happened Wednesday, about two miles south, on Route 47.
The house has been around since the late 1800's, so Dwaine Horsch, who owns the house, said it was tough to come home and see it filled with smoke.
He said he's devastated to lose his pets but he could have lost a lot more.
"All in all, we're still going to have a house to live in. So we're very thankful no one was hurt. My wife and I are the only ones that live here, and neither one of us were hurt," said Horsch.
Horsch said he's not sure yet what exactly caused the fire, but he said it was contained to just a small section of the house.
