Police: Accused Bank Robbers had More than Just Cash

WATSEKA -- Police arrested three people accused of robbing Sumner National Bank Monday morning.  Police said two men and woman had the stolen cash and more than 15 grams of cocaine and heroin.

Watseka Police were called out to the bank  on 698 E. Walnut St.  9:30 a.m.   Investigators said 32-year-old Tiffany Wendal form Watseka  walked into the bank and slipped the teller a note.

It said she had a gun and demanded money.  Police said at that time the teller was able to call 911.

Police said Wendal got in a car with 27-year-old Jason Finks from Watseka, and 24-year-old Jerame Shields form Chicago.

They didn't get far because an officer had a description of the car and pulled them over at Oak and  3rd Street.  Investigators said the on the traffic stop, they found the stolen cash along with more than 15 grams of crack cocaine and heroin.

Police said the the three suspects have been charged with aggravated robbery, possession of a controlled substance, also with the intent to sell.

Currently the three are at the the Iroquois County Jail.  The FBI is also investigating this case.
