Police investigate murder of 22-year old

URBANA -- The coroner has released the name of a man murdered Sunday. Autopsy results show 22-year old Anthony Carter, of Danville, died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Police found Carter laying in the street, bleeding and unresponsive. Witnesses say he was being confronted by a group of men, one of whom began beating him. Carter's murder is under investigation.

DANVILLE -- Police are investigating a murder. Authorities say they responded to the 300-block of Plum Street, Saturday, about 6 pm, for a report of a man laying on the ground.

The 22-year old was unresponsive and bleeding and was taken to the hospital where he died. The victim's name has not been released, pending notification of his family.

Witnesses told police the victim was confronted by several black men and at least one began beating him. The suspects fled the area in a vehicle.
