GOODWINE, Ill. (WCIA) -- Police are investigating after three kids were almost abducted, and now the family involved is sharing their story.
It happened at the post office in Goodwine on County Road 1800 East.
They want to remind people to be careful. They say kidnappings are an afterthought in smaller, rural towns -- especially when everyone knows each other.
Three children were near the post office in town Thursday when a white van with tinted windows rolled up.
The children reported a man asking them to come over and offering them candy.
All of the kids are safe but their grandmother says they'll be much more careful now.
"These are my grandchildren, you know, and to be so scared like this, there's children missing around here and you hear about the slave trade and stuff, you just don't know. You really have to keep children close to you."
If you know anything you are asked to call the Iroquois County Sheriff's Office. The person they're looking for is described as a tall white man in his 20's.
