MAHOMET -- A man once called a hero is arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting minors.

Joshua Huddleston, 34, was arrested yesterday. He's charged with criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

He made headlines years ago, but for a very different reason. He helped rescue a man out of a car after it crashed. Huddleston is an army vet and served overseas many thought of him as a protector but now he's being painted in a much different picture.

Police say Huddleston has been sexually abusing minors for the past three years. Something that's hard to stomach for nearby neighbors who see the family everyday.

A family member called the Champaign County Sheriff's office about it earlier this month. After interviewing the children, Huddleston was arrested.

Police believe it went on for years, because the kids likely didn't realize what was going on was wrong.
