BLOOMINGTON -- A man faces charges after police find an alligator in his home. Officers searched the house in the 1200-block of North Mason Street Thursday and found a three and a half foot alligator in a basement enclosure.

Conservation police are getting the creature checked out to see if it's healthy enough to be taken to a licensed facility. The owner, Danny Hubbs, is charged with having a protected species without a permit. He faces jail time along with a $2,500 fine.
