CHAMPAIGN -- This month has been extra hectic for workers trying to keep the roads clear. They say sometimes they feel like the snow will never stop. But, they say, this is their job, so when it snows, they'll be out.

Gary Schaefer has been a plow driver for 25 years, so he's definitely seen his fair share of snow. Schaefer says this year is one of the worst he's seen.

His crews usually work 12-hours shifts, starting at 11:30 am, or at night. He says, after all the snow we've seen this month, the fatigue can start to wear a driver down.

He says the hardest part is getting on the roads when everyone else is being told to stay home. Plus, driving a heavy truck on slick streets can be tricky, especially when it's windy like it's been lately.

Now that January's just about in the books, Schaefer says he's ready for February and is definitely looking forward to a few months from now when all the snow is long gone.
