Republican chairman steps down after controversial email

MONTGOMERY COUNTY -- A republican chairman has resigned after a controversial email he wrote made national headlines. Jim Allen call GOP candidate Erika Harold "a street walker" in an email to a republican news site.

The editor-in-chief posted it Wednesday. Allen also said that Harold will lose the primary, and "go back to Chicago to fill a law firm's minority quota."

Harold is challenging Republican Congressman Rodney Davis in the primary. Thursday, Davis called for Allen's resignation. Allen stepped down Thursday afternoon.
