MONTICELLO -- Despite the community's concern, the library will be moved out of town. The Allerton Public Library will move to the 4000-block of Green Apple Lane.

People fought to keep it in town, but trustees say they couldn't find a big enough space. Residents say they're losing a piece of history.

The library has been on State Street since 1897. Funding will come from a former resident who left more than $2-million for the library in his will.
