School leaders say it was just too dangerous. Rural routes still have a lot of ice and district officials don't want to chance it.
But, the decision is leaving nearly 100 kids at home without a ride to school. The district has tested rural routes each morning and found them covered in ice and snow drifts.
Drivers say, if a bus hits one drift, it's stuck. They can't just reverse and turn around. The district's transportation office has gotten a lot of calls from angry parents, but they say they'd rather be safe than sorry.
