Ryan Could Get New Trial

WASHINGTON -- Today the U.S. Supreme Court ruled former Governor George Ryan will have a chance to appeal for a new trial. Last year, the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Ryan's appeal.
The panel said Ryan could have challenged the Honest Services Law on direct appeal of his conviction, but when he first appealed, he did not address it.
The 78-year old has served most of his 6-1/2 year prison sentence. He's set to be released in July 2013.
