UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS -- An effort to keep campus safer is paying off. Last month, UI police started ticketing bicyclists who didn't follow the rules of the road.

The goal was to cut down on cyclists running red lights or going the wrong way. Champaign and Urbana police helped out.

So far, more than 200 warnings and about 40 tickets have been issued. Police say they've already noticed a difference on campus.
