ILLINOIS -- More jobs could be created in the state. The government has agreed to buy the Thomson Correction Center. Nearly $54 million has been designated to help renovate and reopen the facility. It would bring about 1,000 jobs into the state and help reduce prison overcrowding.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder outlined the short-term plan during a House budget meeting Friday. Job postings have already gone up on the federal jobs website USAJOBS.GOV, however, Congress has yet to approve the spending plan.
