ILLINOIS (WCIA) -- Lawmakers want to cut sales taxes on personal care products by 5%.
The tax code already considers diapers, baby wipes, condoms, and pads as luxury items.
This plan could drop that sales tax from over six percent to 1%.
That's the same tax often used on groceries and medicine.
Supporters think it could help families already on a slim budget.
Lawmakers approved a similar tax cut on tampons in 2016.
Senators expect to discuss this idea next week.
