DANVILLE -- A local company hopes to avoid a strike as it negotiates contracts with school bus drivers. First Student Incorporated provides buses for the school district.

Thursday night, it offered drivers a four-year contract. The drivers turned it down. The deal has nothing to do with the school district at this point, but no one wants to see a strike happen.

The old contract expired in August 2013, but it's been extended until a new contract is finished.
