TILTON, Ill. (WCIA) -- People are in the process of creating a community newsletter.
The goal is to spread positive news, like highlighting people doing great things in town.
It will update the community on events, changes for the village, details on board meetings and it will include a community calendar.
In the past, they had a hometown paper that was delivered to each house.
While they hope to get there one day, for now it's about keeping everyone informed.
"Most of our residents are older - the older generation, so they're not up-to-date with the Facebook. This is a new way for them. A lot of them like to get the newspaper: The Commercial News, The News -Gazette, and all that. They're going to have something different and they'll be able to sit down on their porch and read it and see everything going on," says newsletter creator, Ryan Washkowiak.
"This is a way to connect to them and make sure their aware of what's going on in their community. This is not running with a negative thing. This is going to be the positive things that happen in the community and we want everybody to be aware of them," says Tilton mayor, David Phillips.
People can sign up to get the email version of the newsletter. That sign up sheet started Tuesday night.
As of Wednesday, 65 people in Tilton were signed up.
As they work out the kinks, they hope to continue to grow.
More information will be added on the Village of Tilton's website
page to spread the word.
