The Illinois Sheriff's Association is awarding more than $53,000 in college scholarships to students for the 2012-2013 academic year. The money can only be used for tuition, books and fees.
The student must meet three requirements: be a permanent resident of Illinois, enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher education within the state and use the money at that institution.
There are no restrictions on any applicant for race, age, creed, color, gender or national origin. Applications are available now at the DeWitt County Sheriff's Office, and are due by March 12, 2012.
