Sheriff's departments collecting old ammo/firearms

CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- Sheriff's departments in Douglas and Coles counties hope to get unused firearms off the streets. They're holding a disposal collection all week at their office.

Deputies hope you drop off any old or unsafe ammunition, firearms or blasting caps. They say you never know who might get their hands on them. Anyone who drops something off will get a free gun lock.

CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- The Sheriff's Departments in Coles and Douglas counties are teaming up for an ammo and firearm disposal collection next week. Chief Deputy Peter Buckley is here to tell us more.

The drop-off program is Monday - Friday, 8 am - 9 pm, daily. Guns and ammunition can be taken to the Sheriff's Departments in either Coles or Douglas counties.

You can turn in any firearm, primers, powders and rifle, pistol or shotgun shells. Collection times and locations are as follow:
