UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS -- Some UI students want to bring a skate park to campus. The Illinois Skateboarding Society created a petition on

Right now, university policy says skateboards and roller skates can only be used as a means of transportation. That means students can't do tricks on them while on campus.

But, Ryan Marohn hopes to change that. He's the co-founder of the group and had luck bringing a skate park to his hometown of Lincolnwood. Marohn says he knows there are already two parks in the area, but they're not ideal for students.

The group says a local basketball court is a great location for the park. It's near Lincoln and Florida avenues. Campus Recreation says it has been approached by the group about the idea. They're supposed to talk about the issue soon.
