Social media could influence college applications

NATIONAL -- You may want to take a closer look at your kid's Facebook and Twitter pages before they send out college applications.

31% of admissions officers say they check an applicant's Facebook page or other social media pages to learn more about them.

That's up 5% from last year and is the highest percentage yet. Most say they didn't find anything jeopardizing an applicant's chances of being accepted.
