Speaker not interested in Committee of the Whole

SPRINGFIELD --  The Speaker of the Illinois House says "no" to a new idea for solving the pension problem. A state rep asked the speaker to consider calling a Committee of the Whole.

It would basically force the house to talk about nothing but pensions until there's a solution. But, a spokesperson for House Speaker Mike Madigan says this was the "craziest idea he'd ever heard."
