CHAMPAIGN -- Drivers are learning the hard way they need to slow down near schools. Police have been writing about six speeding tickets a day near Southside Elementary. Most are to people flying down Prospect Avenue.

Parents want a crosswalk there for kids walking across the busy road, but officers are against it being at Daniel Street. They say the hill crests there, making it tough for drivers to see pedestrians.
