ILLINOIS -- A new state law means harsher punishment for patients who harm nurses. Under the law, at attack on an on-duty nurse will classify as aggravated battery. It's a felony with a 2 - 5 year prison sentence.

Similar legislation is already in place for firemen, police and teachers. It goes into effect in January.
