Storm impacts nationwide blood supply

DECATUR -- There's yet another negative impact from this week's storm. Blood donations are now in high demand. 280 blood drives in 28 states had to be canceled because of the winter weather.

The Red Cross missed out on getting 8,400 units nationwide. It includes blood centers in Central Illinois. 40% of the nation's blood comes from the Red Cross. Local Red Cross reps say they're trying to make up for the shortfall.
