RIVERTON -- Hundreds of families had to find shelter after an unconfirmed tornado ripped through their neighborhood. More than 200 trailers are in the Lincoln Place Mobile Home Park. The Sangamon County sheriff said half of them have been damaged.
That same park was hit by a tornado in March 2006. Not as much damage was done then, but another storm also hit the same area a month later.
Everyone who lives there was told to evacuate Monday for safety reasons. Some people collected personal belongings and went to stay with family.

RIVERTON -- Winds ripped roofs off mobile homes and destroyed trailers during a storm. No injuries have been reported but authorities said about a dozen of those homes were destroyed.
About 100 trailers were in the storm's path. Many trees have been knocked down, some snapping like twigs. Many people's belongings were left strewn in the grass.
Authorities are keeping some people out of the area for safety reasons. The same mobile home park was damaged when it was hit by a tornado about five years ago.
The Red Cross has opened a shelter at Riverton Community High School. Families can find shelter and food there if their homes were damaged during the storm. The address is 841 N. Third Street in Riverton.
The Sangamon County Sheriff said there wasn't a lot of damage in other parts of the county. There have been reports of minor damage, including downed trees and damaged roofs.
