CHAMPAIGN -- Walking to and from Stratton Elementary School should be a little safer this year. A sidewalk project began Thursday. The crossing at Neil and Eureka is being changed to include a raised median. Students or staff members can stand there if they're caught by traffic while crossing the street. A federal grant is paying for the work; about $185,000.
