ILLINOIS -- Lawmakers are honoring a police officer who was killed in the line of duty. Casey Kohlmeier and his K-9 partner were hit and killed by a drunk driver near Pontiac last year. Now the state is naming that stretch of highway in his honor.

Kohlmeier's family was at the Capitol for the dedication and says it would have been a proud moment for him. Signs will soon be posted along I-55 in memory of Kohlmeier. His family hopes the signs will serve as a reminder to not drink and drive.
