The owner of Seaboat says the usual pickup day is Friday, and they're still waiting. It's an issue many businesses and other people had to deal with.
Allied Waste union workers went on strike last week. They don't have an issue with their contract, but they stopped working to support fellow union members in Ohio.
Representatives for Allied say they brought in temporary workers for four days, but business owners say that didn't cut it. Seaboat's owner says they tried to get trash out of their restaurant as quickly as possible and they've never had an issue with Allied before.
A union representative says they were happy to return to work Tuesday. Another group affected by the strike was campus-town property owners.
JSM owns about 1,4000 apartments and other commercial buildings, most of which are near campus-town. Some of those get trash picked up every day. After missing service last Monday, because of the storm, the situation snowballed. But now JSM leaders say they hope things will go back to normal.
