Some students are skipping the beach and picking up hard hats. Eastern Illinois University is on spring break this week. But 12 students decided to stay in Charleston to build a house.
They're part of EIU's Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. They partnered with the Coles County Chapter to build this house.
So far, they've put up walls, roofing and flooring. Later this week, they'll begin to dry wall which puts them way ahead of schedule.
Students will continue to build even after spring break is over. They'll have Saturday builds every weekend until the home is finished.
