Evelyn Miller's reaction was priceless. She grew up in San Diego, a place without snow. Since she moved to Central Illinois, it's something she's learned to love.
'Tis the season for acting like a kid again. Snow suits, snow balls and sleds.
"Ohmygosh! That was fun!"
But, for Evelyn Miller, sledding wasn't a childhood activity.
"Today was the very first she's ever been sledding because it doesn't snow in San Diego."
She had to wait 54 years to try it out.
"That one was even better!"
"You can see by her expression, she was just overjoyed."
Evelyn moved to Danville with her husband about four years ago. It's a place he thought she wouldn't like.
"I like it there, but eh..."
"She fell in love with the winter. I mean, the first winter we were here, we were driving up Vermilion Street near Central Christian Church and we seen this big snow pile behind the church. She had me pull over just so she could climb to the top of that hill."
"Well, California is the land of fruits and nuts."
But, this California girl could teach us in the Midwest a thing or two.
"I don't know. People here don't like it. I do. It's beautiful and it looks like clouds with little sparkles and diamonds in it. I love it. It's beautiful."
What's also beautiful is proving age is just a number.
"She'll probably want to do it about once every year at least."
When asked why now was the perfect time to hit the hill, Evelyn admitted she'd been a little scared before but says she couldn't pass up the great snowfall we got over the weekend.
