Supreme Court rules DOMA unconstitutional

CHICAGO -- The U.S. Supreme Court ruled the controversial Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional. The 5 - 4 ruling stated it deprives individuals of equal liberty protected by the Fifth Amendment.

Leaders of Illinois' largest LGBT civil rights organization say this is one of the most important days in the history of the movement. They're calling for the Illinois House of Representatives to act as soon as possible to allow same-gender couples to marry in the state.
