URBANA -- An area teacher ended the school year with a big surprise. Wednesday was the last day for the Urbana School District. During an assembly at King Elementary, 5th grade teacher Sally Thompson won the Dr. Gene Amberg Award.

It was for having a sense of humor throughout the year, using her imagination to teach and really just being an excellent teacher. Ms. Thompson is the fourth teacher to win the award.
