CHAMPAIGN -- Some teachers are getting extra help to fund special projects this year. 21 teachers won grants to improve their classes. The money's coming from the "It's my I.D.E.A." Grant Project.

More than 90 teachers, like Andrea Cox, sent in a few paragraphs explaining how they would use the money. The Westview Elementary art teacher says she won up to $500 and plans to use the money to buy two digital cameras since her 4th and 5th graders learn photography in class.

Now, she'll finally have enough for each student to have his or her own. Without the money, Cox says it would have taken her a couple more years to afford the extra cameras. She says, even though her students are young, they're old enough to grasp basic photography concepts.

The money came from the CU Schools Foundation. The group has given more than $1.4 million to Champaign-Urbana schools in the past 26 years.
