CHAMPAIGN -- Before the school board meeting started, teachers came out to remind the board they're still waiting for a new contract. The teachers say they're willing to strike if they don't reach an agreement with the district.

The teacher's union gave the district a 28-day warning last week. They want higher pay and better benefits. District leaders plan to meet with teachers and a federal mediator for a bargaining session Wednesday.
