CHATHAM -- Thursday, Sangamon County Sheriff's deputies arrested two men for impersonating police officers. Christopher Morthland, 19, and Thomas Orme, 17, were allegedly involved in multiple incidents Monday, September 2.

Authorities say Morthland and Orme used a cellphone app with red-and-blue flashing light and siren to pose as police and stop motorists. The stops happened near Curran and Lick roads in western Sangamon County.

The charge of false impersonation of a peace officer is a class four felony. Both are in custody on $25,000 bond.
