An area university is trying to stay within economic reach of its students. Millikin University in Decatur announced a zero percent increase in tuition and housing for 2012-13 academic year. Tuition will remain flat for all traditional, evening, undergraduate and graduate programs.
University President, Dr. Harold Jeffcoat, cited "intentional cost containment" as the first step in moving the school toward a sustained pricing effort. The decision is the result of an internal study of more than 100-institutions which reduced tuition pricing by more than 10% in recent years.
Annual tuition for Millikin's full-time undergraduate program is $27,852. Average annual housing runs $5,000. Tuition for Millikin's PACE evening undergraduate program is $417/credit hour. 99% of Millikin students receive financial aid totaling more than $32 million.
