SAVOY -- A movie theater is breaking its own box office records. If the packed parking lot doesn't give it away, all you need to do is look inside the Goodrich Savoy 16.

Checking out a flick on the big screen is already a summer tradition for many families. And with the Beverly Theater in Champaign still under construction, moviegoers are turning to the theater a little farther south.

"The kinds of movies that are on and the variety," said Jean Haines, who lives in Gibson City. "Half of a family can go one direction and the other can do another direction so you can see a couple movies at the same time."

Haines brought her 7-year old grandson to see Monsters University Sunday afternoon. People say they like using the automated kiosks to buy tickets and seeing movies on the new, bigger IMAX screens.
