PIATT COUNTY -- Counterfeit money is floating around and the Secret Service is investigating. Employees at the Mobile Gas Station, in Monticello, say police arrested a man earlier this week. They say he tried to hand over a counterfeit $100, but a police officer was in the store.

The man got nervous and left, but the employee says police later arrested him. Businesses should pay close attention to the bills at every transaction. You can use a counterfeit pen to check if a bill is real. The investigation is ongoing.
