MATTOON -- Three people face multiple charges after an alleged assault. Two were arrested Tuesday in the 2200-block of Laker Avenue.

35-year old Francisco Lavigne, of Harvey, and 38-year old Julian Portis, of Park Forest, are being held on $500,000 bonds each. Both are convicted felons who were out on bond for an alleged battery and mob action in April.

Lavigne is accused of beating his girlfriend and threatening to kill her with a loaded gun. Portis is accused of trying to dispose of the weapon. Both are charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.

37-year old Ruby Burnett, of Mattoon, faces charges for obstructing justice and resisting police. Authorities say she tried to help get rid of the gun and fought with officers when she was arrested.
