RANTOUL -- A toddler was hit by a car on Route 136 Monday night. The 2-year old boy was taken to the hospital with a lower leg injury. Police say he should be fine.

The boy and his mom were at the laundromat on Route 136. She was doing laundry and he was standing close to the door. Someone opened it, he slipped out and ran into the street.

Police say it's not clear if the child hit the car or the car hit the child, but the 73-yera old driver almost came to a full stop before the collision. That made a big difference.

The driver of the car didn't get a ticket. Authorities say there will be no further investigation of the accident.
