Board members say a town hall meeting allows them to be more open taking and answering questions. A panel full of different community members will lead the discussion.
Board members won't be part of that panel. A a critical part of the discussion will be the tax referendum board members are proposing.
"Certainly the referendum is needed in order to move forward with a new Central High School but we also have to be sensitive to whats happening in the community and the economy. We know that people have been hit a lot recently with different taxes," says Judy Wiegand, Unit 4 Superintendent.
The meeting is Monday evening September 30, at the Mellon Administrative Building, 6 pm.
If you have questions you would like to submit to the panel ahead of time, here's a link to the Unit 4 website and Facebook page:
Attendees at the meeting can submit written questions to the town hall's moderator, WCIA's Amanda Porterfield @WCIA3AMANDA.
Community members can also submit questions to the panel through the school district's Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/unit4schools, via Twitter (find the school district at @unit4schools).
Or, they can submit questions via email to Champaign schools spokeswoman Stephanie Stuart at email@example.com.
