Two killed in crash

FORD COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) --  Two people are dead after a crash where a car collided with a semi-truck.

It happened on Route 9 near Gibson City.

Troopers made it to the scene just after 10 on Thursday morning and road wasn't cleared for five hours.

Route nine was blocked off in both directions. The semi was towed away and hazmat team came to clean up debris. There is still some debris left behind from the accident.

Troopers say 21-year-old Kelsey Bridgwater of Saybrook lost control of her car when she hit the semi head on.

Bridgwater and her passenger, 24-year-old Charly Jesse of Jacksonville, Florida, were pronounced dead on the scene by the Ford County Coroner.

State Police haven't confirmed if the crash was weather related or the condition of the semi driver.
