CHAMPAIGN -- Two people were hurt during a home invasion in the 500-block of West University Avenue. WCIA-3's Megan Brilley was on the scene.

It happened around 4 pm. The victims were sitting inside their apartment when a man started banging on the door, trying to get in. Police say the suspect had gotten into an argument with the woman inside earlier in the day.

When she heard the banging, she ran outside with another man and a friend to defend herself. That's when the suspect pulled out a knife, and in the midst of the fight, the woman and her friend's hands were cut. Neither had to go to the hospital.

Police are still searching for the suspect. He's described as a light-skinned, stocky black male. He was wearing a black shirt and left the scene with two black women in a green van.
