UI's green is showing

UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS -- The UI is being recognized for its efforts to use less energy. Governor Pat Quinn named the Urbana-Champaign campus as a Gold Level School.
    In 2010, the UI joined the governor in signing the Illinois Campus Sustainability Compact. It outlines environmental goals for universities.
    In the past three years, the campus has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 14%, water consumption by 16% and energy consumption by 19%. The campus plans to host Sustainability Week in October.
