URBANA -- A high school's attempt to form a union is being shut down by the UI. Teachers at Uni High School filed the petition for a union in May.

They want to cover all full-time and regularly employed part-time teachers but the UI, which is tied to the school, says "no." Since both sides don't agree, it will go before a judge. State law says 30% of staff must sign on for it to be certified.
