Unions endorse Marlin for mayor

URBANA, Ill. - URBANA -- It doesn't happen often, but police and fire unions are endorsing a candidate for mayor.

They're checking the box for Diane Marlin. The endorsement comes from the Urban Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 70 and Urbana Firefighters Local 1147.

They say Marlin represents an "important change" the city needs. Union members say Marlin will create new jobs, protect existing ones and focus on growth.

Marlin is up against incumbent Laurel Prussing, Reverend Evelyn Underwood and Rex Bradfield who is the only Republican running.
