CHAMPAIGN -- Unit 4 teachers are on the verge of voting on a tentative contract, but there's another set of workers still waiting for one. Unit 4 support staff, including bus drivers, teachers aides, custodians and more, have been without a contract since this summer.

Their three year contract expired, and the school board and union have been negotiating for several months. The board's vice president, Jamar Brown, says salaries and insurance have been the main sticking points.

"We have lots and lots of staff that really support this district, and the district would not function without them. So it's just as important to make sure that they get their fair share, as well as our teachers."

Brown says both sides are trying to schedule another bargaining session for next week. Calls to the union president were not returned.
