Veteran's family receives Habitat house
URBANA, Ill. - Update: 6:30 pm, 10/21/15, Wednesday
URBANA -- Champaign County's Habitat for Humanity dedicated its first home for a veteran Wednesday. Bobby Hart served two tours of duty in the Army.
Then, he and his family started looking for somewhere to settle down. They say they're grateful for this opportunity, especially because their two young sons will have a safe place to call home.
"A new start, fresh start for our family," said Hart. "It's just a blessing, really. Our kids get to grow up in a house."
The couple each put in about 250 hours of work to make it happen. Their friends, family and others got together for the dedication.
High school students helped raise money for the project; about $2,500 in two weeks last year. This is the 84th home for Champaign County's chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
