CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- Snow, ice and cold temperatures make a dangerous mix for roads. State police were busy Sunday night.

Bad weather caused dozens of accidents, almost all of them on state highways. Authorities say every public road and state highway had a crash. There were multiple accidents on both I-74 and I-57.

IDOT crews started treating the roads at 3 am, but many areas eventually froze over. Workers say the roads are dangerous and spotty.

Officials say, the best bet is to stay off the roads. They add, while there were a lot of accidents, there were only a few with injuries and no fatalities.
