DECATUR -- An investigation is at a standstill after two days of digging. Sources say authorities are looking for evidence connected to a near 30-year old missing child case while sifting through dirt in the 2100-block of North Charles Street.

Neighbors are used to seeing police digging away at the scene the past few days, but Thursday, the mud was too wet from Wednesday's rains. Officials will have to wait until Friday to start again.

Police started digging here Tuesday. A source confirms it's connected to the 28-year old cold case of the disappearance of 4-year old T.J. Davison from a Kroger parking lot in 1985. Neighbors say his aunt's house stood on this lot, but burned down years ago.

There are still a lot of dots people hope police will soon be able to connect. Some say the investigation has turned the neighborhood into a spectacle.
